South Africa has Pool C all but wrapped up after two games Friday night. The Springboks torched Uruguay 35-0 in their first game, with Cornal Hendricks, Frankie Horne and Bernado Botha all scoring a try, and Cecil Afrika dotting down two.

The night didn’t get any better for Uruguay, as Los Teros had an upset ripped from them at the death against France. Uruguay took a 19-14 lead with 57 seconds left on the clock, just enough time to give France the ball back. France’s Terry Bouhraoua streaked down the touch line to tie the game, and Thibaut Zambelli drilled the incredibly difficult conversion to win it.

South Africa had to work a little harder to oust Wales in its second match. Wales scored first. South Africa then responded with-straight tries to take a lead it wouldn’t relinquish in the 29-12 win.

The swing match was between France and Wales, which the Welsh took 14-12. Barring a French upset of South Africa on day two, forcing a three-way tie, Wales will advance to the Cup quarterfinals.
