USA vs. Australia

The final tune-ups for the Rugby World Cup continue this week and weekend. All teams have pared squads to the 31-player limit, and will experiment for the last time with lineups to go forward in the tournament.

Today, Canada play Georgia at the Esher Rugby Park, Molesey Road, Surrey, England

The Saturday schedule follows:

Japan vs Georgia, Kingsholm, Gloucester, England

Romania vs. Tonga

USA vs. Australia, Soldier Field, Chicago

Leicester vs. Argentina

England vs. Ireland, Twickenham

Wasps vs. Samoa, Ricoh Arena, Coventry, England

Wales vs. Italy, Cardiff

France vs. Scotland, Stade Francais, Paris

September 6, Sunday

Canada vs. Fiji, Twickenham Stoop

Uruguay vs. Basque, Spain Select

The key matchup is between Ireland and England. The Irish defeated England in the Six Nations Championship in 2015, the sole loss for the Red Roses, which denied them the title. (Ireland, Wales, and England finished 4-1, with the Irish claiming the title by a small, point differential.)

But no one will remember these warmup results after the World Cup begins September 18. For all teams, it’s the last game of the preseason before the matches the count begin.
