Argentina 43 - Ireland 20
The "troubles" continued for Ireland as they failed again to advance into a semi-final round, losing for the third time in world cup history to Argentina. Los Pumas stormed ahead 17-0 and never trailed, up 20-10 at the break. Ireland narrowed it to 20-17 with a try in the second period, but Argentina had the pace and power to add 23 more points. Fly half Nicholas Sanchez tallied 23 points for Los Pumas.
Australia 35 - Scotland 34
A disputed offside call at the 80-minute mark followed by a penalty dashed the Scots' hopes of gaining a semi-final place. The powerful Wallabies met a determined Scottish side that played above all expectations in one of the most exciting matches of this 2015 RWC. Scotland remained the last hope for a European nation in the next round, which, at the completion of the quarter finals, is comprised of all southern hemisphere Rugby Championship teams. (New Zealand vs. South Africa and Argentina vs. Australia next weekend.)
