Tonga beat Namibia 35-21 in the last game of the first half of the RWC’s 40 matches. This 20th contest was at Sandy Park, Exeter, the first game played in this small stadium of 12,300 capacity.
Tonga led 22-7 at the break, and Namibia rallied behind two tries in the second period. In total, the game witnessed eight tries, five from Tonga and three from Namibia. Oddly, Namibia kicked no penalties, the points all coming from tries and conversions.
Namibia is still without a historic RWC win. Tonga picked up their first points in Pool C.
It will be a day off tomorrow, Wednesday September 30, and then two matches on Thursday, October 1, when Wales meet Fiji in Cardiff, and France meet Canada at Milton Keynes Stadium.
