USA Flanker Diane Schnapp

In 2000, the IRB (World Rugby) conducted the Canada Cup in Winnipeg for four of the top Women’s fifteens in a three-match event. New Zealand roared through opening game wins against Canada (41-0) and he USA (45-0) before beating England in the final 32-13. The Black Ferns extended their win streak to 23, dating back to 1993.

The USA defeated host nation Canada 15-9 for third place. In the first half, the Eagles scored two tries (Jen Crawford and Stacey Davis) against three Canadian penalties. The score stood at 10-9 at the break,

Midway through the second half, prop Phaidra Knight, scored the Eagles third try. The USA’s stout defense held the Canadians scoreless.

The USA win compensated for an earlier season, close loss to Canada 17-10.

Of note, the Canada Cup marked Fullback Jen Crawford’s 23rd appearance, a team record.
