When World Rugby asked USA Rugby and United World Sports to add an HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens event in Las Vegas this year, it only listed the eleven core sides, the twelfth entry would be decided at the recent Sud America Women’s 7s in Cordoba, Argentina. At that tournament last weekend, Brazil, defending champion and thirteen-time winner, won easily, scoring 237 points and ceding only 12 in their six victories for the gold medal. Brazil is already a core team in the 2016/2017 HSBC World Rugby events.

Second place went to Argentina, and Las Pumas will become the twelfth and final team to compete in Las Vegas, March 3, 4 and 5. They were the only side to score any points against Brazil, losing 31-12 in the final. A bonus for Argentina, will be their participation in this year’s Hong Kong 7s April 7, 8, and 9.

Argentina will play in Pool A against France, Canada, and Russia.
