Day one of the women’s club sevens saw most of the favorites reach the cup quarterfinals with several exceptions. Traditional powers, NYRC, Life West, San Diego and Scion all came out as group victors.

Pool D featured the most competitive balance with three teams going 2-1. Scion, ARPCT, and Boston all finished 2-1 but Scion and ARPCT found their way through thanks to point differential.

The biggest surprise of the weekend saw Washington Athletic Club, who is essentially the Seattle team that won it all last year, failed to make it out of the group stage. New York Rugby Club won pool C and the Atlanta Harlequins knocked off WAC to take home the second spot.

While San Diego cruised in pool B, Berkeley surprised the Chicago Lions, finishing 2-1 and making its way to the cup rounds. Life West ran rough shot over pool A and Rocky Mountain took the second spot in the group.
