England won their third U-20 Boys Championship with a resounding 45-21 win over Ireland. A sellout crowd in Manchester’s AJ Bell Stadium witnessed the home team enjoy an easy triumph. England were ahead 21-0 at the half, scoring three tries. They also scored three tries in the second period, outpacing their opponents 24-21.

England’s Harry Mallinder was named Man of the Match.

Ireland’s second place finish is their highest ever.

In other games for final placement, New Zealand (3) defeated Australia (4) 55-24. Wales (5) beat Scotland (6) 42-19. Argentina (7) won against South Africa (8) 49-19. France (9) outplayed Georgia (10) 27-24. Italy (11) avoided relegation by routing Japan (12) 41-17.

Japan will drop down to the U-20 Trophy event in 2017. Samoa will rise to play in next year’s U-20 Championship.
