The Rio Games are now less than 100 days away, and companies looking to ride the craze created by the Olympics are snapping up athletes to sponsor or partner with. Already, several Team USA rugby players are endorsing products or companies. Madison Hughes and Kristen Thomas are with Penn Mutual, Carlin Isles is with Red Bull, Nike, etc.
But maybe the most high-profile pickup in the rugby space is that of Perry Baker by Budweiser. The Beer giant is the official beer sponsor of Team USA, and it's plucked six athletes for what it's referring to as "Team Budweiser". Baker is joined by Becky Sauerbrunn (women's soccer), Amanda Bingson (hammer throw), Richard Browne (Paralympic Men's T44 100-meter), Trey Hardee (Decathlon) and Melissa Stockwell (Paratriathlon).
"We handpicked these athletes because of their inspiring stories, courage and belief that they can achieve something incredible for their country," said Ricardo Marques, vice president, Budweiser. "These are also the values of Budweiser, and we're extremely proud to partner with them this summer as they work toward their ultimate goal."
Let the Games begin!
