The second and perhaps most important tournament of the three-event West 7s Series kicks off on Saturday in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Blues host and are in first place in the series, having won the opener in Texas, and look to ride a strong team performance to clinch a seed to nationals before the Denver 7s.

However, top try-scorer Ed Mills is on vacation, and won't be with the squad, perhaps opening the door to some others.

Such as ... Woodlands Exiles. The WE squad finished 3rd in their own tournament a week ago, and will come to the City of Fountains with Arkansas State All Americans Zac Mizell and Dean Gericke ready to play.

Glendale will add Ratu Rinakama to their lineup for this weekend, raising their speed and elusiveness quotient.

But under the most pressure will have to be the Denver Barbarians. They left last week's Woodlands 7s without any points. They have a more seasoned lineup for this weekend, and will need it to get back in the hunt.
