The Southern California RFU has announced its #3 seed to the Men’s National 7s Club Championships.

OMBAC will be representing SoCal.

OMBAC and Santa Monica were tied with 49 points after three tournaments.

The union turned to the International Rugby Board tiebreaker rules for the IRB Sevens World Series.

To wit:

ii. In the event of two or more teams being equal on Series points for any position on the Series table, such position shall be determined on the margin of points scored for and against the team, with the highest margin of points scored for and against being considered the leading team in the respective position.

iii. In the event of (ii) above not providing a decision, the position on the Series table will be determined on the basis of the team scoring the most tries in the Series.

After taking about 24 hours to confirm all the scores in SOCal’s three-tournament series, OMBAC came through with 372 points for and 159 against, for a +213.

Santa Monica scored 321 and allowed 181, for a points difference of +140.

OMBAC moves on by virtue of a 73-point superiority in points difference.

On a side note, SoCal VP Geno Mazza said that the series will expand in 2013 to include a fourth tournament, in Tempe, Az.
