Head Coach Al Caravelli has some decisions to make when he convenes his next
Caravelli told the RuggaMatrix America
podcast that he used the first two tournaments of the IRB World Series to
find his starting seven players. He’s done that, and it is clear he will make
a few changes to the squad going forward.
Among the new players he might consider putting on the squad is a... Read More
Dragged somewhat down to earth the USA 7s team flies home today to
regroup for Wellington and Las Vegas in February.
Head Coach Al Caravelli wants to take his team to Durban, Australia as
preparation for those next tournaments. It seems unlikely that USA Rugby will
suddenly get a financial windfall to pay for it, and it's not in the budget
right now, so the idea remains just that, an idea.... Read More
It was an up-and-down day for the USA at the George 7s. They played
well enough to beat the defending IRB World Series champs, and then stepped
on their own feet with a series of uncharacteristic errors and missed tackles
to end up 1-2.
“We started very well against Samoa, but then hit a little lull,” USA Head
Coach Al Caravelli told RUGBYMag.com. “Then we started really well against
Fiji, made... Read More

The Eagles started their third and final pool game in South Africa like
they were still hungover from the 43-5 shellacking Fiji delivered earlier
in the day, and allowed Namibia to take the early 7-0 lead.
The Americans responded quickly when Miles Craigwell found playmaker Shalom
Suniula, who then deferred to a switching Colin Hawley for the rebuttal

One of the USA 7s team's mantras is that they don't want to look on making
the Cup Quarterfinals as an end, but as a beginning.
They want to go from hoping to make the Top Eight to expecting to.
Such expectations are a luxury. Five teams made every Quarterfinals last
season, leaving three spots every tournament for others. Of those 24 spots
(three in each of eight... Read More
USA women’s 7s coach Ric Suggitt has a lot of work ahead of him. With a
program that has played in only one tournament so far this year, and with
massive turnover still being managed post 2009 World Cup, he is in the
unenviable position of finding players and re-starting the program.
This past summer was a fairly enthusiastic one for women’s 7s, as more
teams embraced the... Read More
February 10, 2003, Nausori, Fiji — The US National Women's Sevens Team was
surprised by a 7-0 loss to Touchdown, the Fiji national touch team in a
6-team tournament won by the Touch team.
There was a final match, however and a
chance for redemption, as a Fiji national team selected as a result of the
tournament, containing 7 of the same Touch players, faced a very different
