Lindenwood vs, Life

(CORRECTION: Rugby Today apologizes to Fresno State and to Florida State for omitting the former and including the latter in the write up of the semifinal match of the Women’s D2 Spring Championship.)

Women’s D1 Elite National Championship – Lindenwood Lions overpowered Life 36-7 in the final, to prevent the Running Eagles from winning both the Women’s and the Men’s College title in 2018. Veteronica Tafito from Lindenwood was named MVP of the tournament. Recent past winners include:

  • 2016 – Penn State 15, Brigham Young 5
  • 2017 – Penn State 28, Lindenwood 25
  • 2018 – Lindenwood 36, Life University

Women’s D1 Spring Championship – Chico State vanquished Central Florida 54-26 in a many try game, where the winners led 35-7 at the break. After moving to spring and fall championships during the past three-years, results follow:

  • 2015–16 (fall) Connecticut 19, Air Force 12
  •                (spring) UC Davis 30Virginia 26
  • 2016–17 (fall) Air Force 19, Connecticut 8
  •               (spring) UC Davis 27, Notre Dame College 19

Women’s D2 Spring Championship – Tulane thrashed Claremont Colleges 34-14. The talented Green Wave lost last year in the final so the well-deserved win compensated for last year’s loss. Tulane is coached by Jessica Mallndine.

Men’s D1AA National Championship – Mary Washington (Fredericksburg, VA) prevailed in a see-saw match against Dartmouth 38-30. The Big Green lead 16-7 at halftime. Past list of winners follows:
