Oregon State University shut out the University of Oregon 42-0 in the
annual "Civil War" match, so-named as it's what everyone calls the rivalry
between these two universities.
OSU and Oregon also play their annual football game on the same day.
For the rugby, it was all about the Oregon State forwards, as they controlled the pace of the game, especially in the rucks.
"We did make some mistakes," said Oregon State Head Coach Mark Webber. "But I was surprised how the game went . Our forwards were very good in the loose and we put a lot of defensive pressure on them, and made our tackles."
Freshman wing Nathan Kimmel scored two tries and senior wing Jeff Miller added on. They were the only backs to score tries, as forwards Jacob and Emerson Helbling and Robert Kennedy and Mitchell Fargher all scored. Zach Heath kicked a penalty and two conversions for the 42-0 Oregon State win.
