The University of Colorado women's team defeated New Mexico 31-22 to clinch second in the Pacific Mountain women's DI college league.
Women's Cougar Rugby (BYU) had already clinched 1st with a series of dominating victories - they averaged 59 points a game and did not give up a point - but Colorado still had plenty to play for.
With the victory CU confirmed an automatic bid to the women's Round of 16. Meanwhile Colorado State, which finished third, will play off with with #3 and #4 from the Pacific Mountain North (Northern California and PNW teams), and the #2 from the Pacific Mountain South (Southern California and Arizona).
For New Mexico, it was a rough season with no victories. However, the Lobos did imrpove, going from blowouts to losing 15-12 to Air Force and this competitive match with Colorado.
