The Men's DI-AA Final Four is set, with Dartmouth and Tennessee coming out of the regions they hosted, San Diego State emerging from the Palo Alto, Calif. region and Davenport advancing from the Cottage Grove, Wisc. bracket.
Tennessee and San Diego State, who both dropped out of DI-A over the offseason and met at the USA Rugby 7s National Championships in December in College Station, will play in one semifinal May 18 in Sandy, Utah.
Davenport and Dartmouth, both with coaches who've gone head-to-head in the Collegiate Rugby Championship, meet in the other. Adding to the familiarity between the Panthers and Big Green is that Magleby has coached Davenport flyhalf JP Eloff as the 15s and 7s All Americans coach, as well as in the 7s Eagles set up earlier this spring.
The DI-AA final four will likely be the only one without local flair in
Utah, as Utah Valley University has made the DII semifinals, multiple high
school teams are playing in the national invitational and BYU and Utah
remain firmly in the hunt for a DI-A finals berth.
