With conference playoffs in full swing, there was a number of high profile matchups last weekend. Several teams had impressive results and moved up the rankings accordingly.

The biggest mover of the week was Arkansas State. The Red Wolves had been idle for most of the fall season, but beat former Rugby South rival Davenport 45-7 on Saturday. As a result, ASU jumps up seven spots to 10th. Davenport had played a number of preseason contest coming into the bout and after an early season loss to Indiana falls to number 15.

In a battle of ECRC undefeated teams, AIC dominated BC 72-19. With Kuztown losing and Indiana squeaking out a tight one against Wisconsin, the Yellow Jackets propelled themeselves into the 8th spot.

Penn State used a strong first half to jump out to a 24-0 lead on Kutztown and held on to to win 24-15. The Nittany Lions, however, failed to secure a bonus point they needed to win the Rugby East Conference. Both teams finished at 6-1 in conference play but Kutztown won the conference with more points. Since Penn State won the game, but Kuztown won the conference, we placed Penn State and Kuztown back to back at 11th and 12th respectively.

Ohio State returns to the Top 25 after defeating beating Michigan 35-31 and securing a place in the Big 10 Championship next weekend.

One schools make its first appearance in the Rugby Today rankings. Air Force defeated Army in a rivalry game at Colorado Springs. The Zoomies slot in at number 23. An early season thrashing from Colorado State prevents Air Force from being higher. Rivalry games are always difficult to judge, so for now the Zoomies remain behind the Black Knights.
