Most teams in DIA are gearing up for their respective regular seasons with non-conference bouts while a couple of conferences have gotten a head start on league play.
A few teams put their hands up to be put in the rankings early in the season. Traditional powers, Army, Navy and Indiana all had tough games this weekend against unranked opponents.
Dartmouth gave Army all it could handle in a 32-25 loss. The Black Knights did lose a player to a red card right at the end of the first half but managed to defeat the Big Green after a 15-15 first half.
St. Bonaventure held Navy to 15 points in a non-conference affair. The game was scoreless 30 minutes into the match and the Bonnies hung tough throughout the game despite the loss.
Lindenwood-Belleville kept Indiana to a one score game in the Midwest. Indiana went up 10-0 but the Lynx managed to strike back to take a 14-10 lead. Indiana managed to win the game but Lindenwood-Belleville is making a statement after thumping Wisconsin last weekend.
The only conference to really get underway is the Liberty Conference. Stony Brook is the only team to have played two games, however, and the Long Island school is currently 0-2. Colgate, Fordham, Albany and Syracuse all picked up wins in their first match.
A number of teams in the Mid-south played tune up games with all of them picking up wins. The Life University club team tested itself against Mystic River, using a number of college players in the win.
Clemson battles Texas A&M to a close 18-12 affair while Davenport and Arkansas State picked up comfortable non-conference wins over Iowa Central and Alabama, respectively.
Conference play starts in earnest this week with the Big 10, Rugby East, Liberty and Rocky Mountain all getting under way.
