We are still early in the season but it is time for the first set of DII College Rankings. DII changes tremendously every year and it is hard to keep a grip on everything. Some teams dropped down from DIAA and others came from NSCRO leaving the field different than last season.

The WIIL, which rebranded as the Great Midwest, is still the strongest conference in the country. The conference sees five teams ranked in the top 25 and three in the top 10. Whitewater comes in at the top spot but Illinois State and a surging Marquette that got hot to end last season will be looking to dethrone the national champions.

Norwich takes the second spot after getting a win in their opening game and North Dakota State slides in at three after a final four appearance last year.

NC State vaulted up the rankings with an impressive win over last year runner up VMI a few weeks ago. They sit at four.

The rest of the rankings are tough to decipher based on only a handful of games. These were mostly determined by pedigree of the program and strength of the conference in year’s past.

Iowa Central, who barnstormed through NSCRO last year is a DII team. The tritons have a pair of losses but to quality DIA teams. They will be tough to rank but for now they sit at 12.

Queens College, the new Varsity program in North Carolina has a pair of wins under their belt. They come in at 23.
