The DII men’s college bracket is down to 16 teams. All 16 will head to one of four regional brackets for a weekend of back-to-back games that will yield the final four participants.

There were five play in games held this weekend to fill out the 16 teams.


In the northeast region, Oswego impressively defeated Southern Connecticut 67-12 to make its first final 16 since 2015. Additionally, NC State bested East Carolina 29-10.

The matchups in the northeast next weekend:

Norwich vs NC State

Hartford vs Oswego


RPI defeated Sacred Heart 32-27 to capture the Tri-State championship. It was the only game to round out the quad in this region. The matchups for next week are:


UNC-Charlotte vs Bloomsburg


The only play in game in this region was between Minnesota-Duluth and UW-Milwaukee. The Fighting Penguins reign over DII appears to be ending as they fell 39-31 to the third place team from WIIL. It will be the first time since at least 2013 that Duluth is not in the final four.

UW-Whitewater vs Pitt State

Grand Valley State vs Minnesota-Duluth


In the two games that took place this weekend, Furman and Illinois State advanced to the round of 16. Illinois State won a close encounter with IUPUI 24-21 while Furman bested Deep South winner Louisiana Tech 34-19.
