The Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 Friday night with a 13-try performance to beat USC 78-10. Santa Barbara used a balanced attack that resulted in tries scored by 11 different players, while USC's lone try was scored as a result of a charged down kick 21 minutes into the second half.

"We are happy with our result, but will need to be more accurate going forward," lamented Gaucho coach Kevin Battle. "We were a bit careless with the ball at times, and that will come back to haunt us if we don't get it sorted out. Our goal kicking is probably not where it should be, either."

The Gauchos only converted on six of 13 conversions, many of which were makable attempts. Those lost points didn’t punish them Friday, but they may going forward. UCSB wraps up its SoCal season at Loyola Marymount next weekend, and then gears up to host the Round of 16, where they’ll face the champs of the Pacific Northwest April 30.
