Lindenwood against Glendale. Tama Paogofie-Buyten with ball.

Outside of two results, all of last weekend's games bolstered our rankings. Of those outliers, one caused a bit of confusion and the other sees a new team enter the Top 25.

No. 9 Kutztown played at No. 18 American International College, and the Golden Bears won, 41-27. No. 8 Army played No. 10 Air Force a week prior, and the Black Knights beat the Zoomies by two. And No. 17 Clemson beat No. 25 Maryland in the Atlantic Coast decider. Those results all show we had something right.

In the Southeastern, we were too slow on Tennessee. The Vols were among those knocking on the door, but after a bit of a rebuilding season, we wanted to see Tennessee beat someone really good before we acted. The Vols did that in taking down South Carolina, 25-19. These two could meet again in the SCRC title game this weekend and mix things right back up, but for now Tennessee enters the Top 25 and leapfrogs South Carolina. The Gamecocks stay ranked, as their loss was much closer than Maryland's, leaving the Terps on the outside looking in.

The result that confused things was Lindenwood's 52-14 defeat of Penn State in State College, Pa. It comes a week after the Lions lost at home, 7-3, to Davenport. Earlier in the season, Davenport fell to Penn State, 30-6. Subjectively, Lindenwood was mourning the loss of a teammate the week it hosted Davenport, and there were a lot of distractions leading into that game, so we figured the Lions were better than the result. Not to mention, they beat Penn State with a significant amount of starters out. Objectively, if you look at these three teams' results as a round-robin, Lindenwood has the best point differential, +34, followed by Penn State, -14, and Davenport, -20, so that's the order in which we ranked them.

The next opportunity for big shakeup is the ACRC Bowl weekend, which will see fourth-ranked Life play No. 8 Army, 17th-ranked Clemson take on the SCRC winner, who is sure to be ranked, No. 19 Bowling Green face No. 18 AIC, and several teams on the cusp of the 25 in action.
