The Pools have been announced for the first annual Heart of America qualifier tournament being held in Kansas City, Mo. on March 25-26. The winner of the tournament will earn a coveted spot in the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship on June 3-4 in Philadelphia.
Eighteen teams will compete over two days for a spot CRC glory. The teams are divided in six pools of three teams with each team playing the other two teams in its bracket to determine seeding.
The HOA has a unique competition structure that should make for an interesting day two. The top 12 finishers will have a chance to hoist the crown after pool play but it will be a less difficult road for bracket winners. The six pool winners will automatically get a spot in the quarterfinals while 7-12 will be put into a play in bracket to reach the final eight. (See the Main image for a complete breakdown of seeding)
It should be an action packed weekend with teams from all across the Midwest (and some other state) planning to attend. Smaller schools like Lindenwood-Belleville, Davenport are joined by the likes of Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and other big Midwestern Universities.
The pool breakdown is as follows:
Pool A | Pool B | Pool C |
---|---|---|
Lindenwood | AIC | Davenport |
Oklahoma | Minnesota | Wyoming |
Louisville | North Texas | Nebraska |
Pool D | Pool E | Pool F |
Ohio State | Lindenwood-Belleville | Arkansas |
St. Louis | Missouri | Michigan |
Kansas State | New Hampshire | North Dakota |
