After playing catchup all season the Shippensburg men's team finally caught
up.
Ship opened their Keystone Collegiate Conference season on September 14
with a 33-31 loss to West Virginia. With St. Joseph's notching victories
from the get-go, Shippensburg was never able to stay ahead, but was always
close as they began to match St. Joe's and West Virginia win for win.
Going into the last weekend of the season, Shippensburg trailed St.
Joseph's by two points, 29 to 27, with St. Joe's at 5-0 and Shippensburg at
4-1. West Virginia lurked at 3-1 (they had a postponed match to make
up).
Saturday, Shippensburg defeated St. Joseph's 19-15 to jump into 1st place.
West Virginia won, also, and can catch Ship if they win their remaining
game with a bonus point. Shippensburg is in first now, but has to sit and
watch WVU determine their playoff destiny.
The Keystone Conference awards bonus points for submitting match reports.
In the standings below we haven't credited Shippensburg, St. Joe's, or West
Virginia with submitting a match report, yet. However, if they all do that,
and West Virginia wins on Sunday in their makeup game against winless West
Chester, it is WVU that will make the playoffs.
