USA Rugby has announced the men’s DI field at for the May 18-19 7s national championship in Glendale, Co. Currently 15 of the 16 spots have been determined with the winner of the Liberty Conference rounding out the field in the coming weeks.

The biggest addition to the field this year is the return of Cal. The Golden Bears elected to forego the CRC after five straight titles and will look to continue their title streak in the USA Rugby championship.

It is a fairly talented field in addition to Cal, with four Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship teams competing this go around. Defending champions Lindenwood return to Glendale and will look to be just as formidable this year. Along with Lindenwood, Kutztown, Arizona and Wisconsin joins the Lions as teams that will participate in both USA Rugby championship and the CRC.

Kutztown and Arizona will be extremely strong. The former won a number of tournaments this spring including the Las Vegas 7s. The latter defeated Cal in overtime to capture the Pac 7s in the fall. Both teams will be looking to make a title run.

Other traditionally strong 7s teams like AIC and Notre Dame College will test their mettle in this tournament. AIC lost out on returning to the CRC by losing in the Heart of America final and will look to finish the season strong in Denver.

After an immensely successful first 15s season in DIA, Grand Canyon will look to make waves on the 7s scene.
