Youth Rugby Club Performs Community Clean Up - The Springfield (Virginia) South County Youth Club conducted its annual community service project on Saturday, March 31. More than 30 members of the SYC/West End Rugby family cleaned up trash from the Wakefield Run as well as conducting biological stream monitoring. This is an annual tradition and an important service when the rugby club helps the community.

The Big Game: California vs. St. Mary's - This Saturday at St. Mary's Stadium, Moraga, California, the Gaels welcome the Bears in what can certainly be considered the match for the 2018 national collegiate championship. St. Mary's is undefeated, sporting a 17-0 record, while Cal is 19-1, that lone loss away at the University of British Columbia. Cal has won 17 out of 20 matches against its East Bay rival in the past twenty-years. The game begins at 1 p.m. PT.

China Women Triumphant - China emerged as the winner in the qualifier for next season's 2019 twelfth spot on the World Rugby Women's Sevens Circuit by defeating South Africa 31-14 in Hong Kong.  Earlier, the Springboks defeated Kenya 12-7 while China had an easy victory against Belgium 22-5. The event also slotted the placements for five teams in the July Women's Sevens World Cup (i.e.; places 12 through 16) to be played in San Francisco.

AT&T Signs on for Major League Rugby - AT&T Sports and ROOT Sports have agreed to broadcast 17 Major League Rugby matches in local markets when the season kicks off in April. The Game of the Week will always be on CBSSN.

Major League Rugby Kick Off Weekend - The initial games in the seven-team MLR will commence play the weekend of April 21 and April 22 as follows:

Saturday, April 21          

Austin Elite v Glendale Raptors (The Game of the Week, CBSSN), 5 p.m. ET

Nola Gold v Houston Saber Cats, 3 p.m. ET

Sunday. April 22

San Diego Legion v Seattle Seahawks, 8 pm. ET.
