Hamilton Men's Sevens Next Week- The 2019 rugby season kicks off next weekend in Hamilton, New Zealand, for the first tournament of the year, the HSBC New Zealand 7s for Men. This will be the second time in Hamilton, which replaced Wellington last year as the venue.

The USA lead the ten-city event after the first two matches (Dubai and Cape Town) with 38 points. This is the first occasion that the Eagles have ever led the sevens circuit. Fiji won this event in 2018.

Tonga won a regional qualifier to be the 16th team in the event.

The week after, the tournament moves to Sydney, Australia, for Women (third event) and Men. Importantly, the top four finishers in both divisions will qualify automatically for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

A month after Sydney, sixteen sides will convene in Las Vegas on March 2 and 3 for its tenth anniversary. A gala celebration is planned. In Las Vegas, the USA will defend its 2018 USA Sevens title. Chile has been named as the last team in this tournament.
