Rugby's popularity has been markedly on the rise in Brazil since its hosting the 2016 Olympics (Gold Medals to Fiji Men and Australian Women). Much of the credit goes to the Augustin Danza, the CEO of the Brazilian Rugby Federation, a native of Argentina who graduated from Columbia Business School.

The matches will be played in the São José dos Campos stadium.

The USA have not qualified for this tournament since 2015 when they finished fifth.

The winner advances to the U20 Championship next year in Italy.
