The innovative Super7 kickoff event – “The Million Dollar Scrum” – has been postponed due to a surge of continuing interest from teams around the world.
Super7 President, David Nui, said, "We have been inundated with requests by teams currently registered in the contest, along with those wanting to join in on the fun to consider extending the contest and moving the event date to accommodate many US based team's existing rugby 7s schedules and commitments. There has also been a spike in international interest that means extra time may be required to coordinate travel as well. Our goal has been to be as inclusive as possible, and to cooperate as best we can with the whole rugby community.”
- The contest will be moved to Saturday, July 6 in Las Vegas;
- The matches will be played inside a stadium;
- The deadline for fans to vote for their favorite women’s and men’s or boys or girls’ teams is extended to midnight (ET), Tuesday, June 18; and,
- To vote, access www.s7rugby.com
So far, more than 10,000 votes have been registered.
Games will be played in the S7 format of four, twelve-minute quarters in the Senior and College divisions. The high school matches will feature reduced play time.
