Fiji has easily looked like the strongest boys team present at the Youth Olympic Games, and the United States fought extremely hard in their second game of day one, despite falling 29-10 to the island nation.

Fiji scored a quick try right after the opening kickoff, however, the United States quickly responded off a penalty about ten meters from the try line. Vili Helu tapped and ran, giving an illusive dummy before barreling over for the try. Fiji took over for the rest of the first half, scoring two more tries to take a 19-5 lead into half time.

In the second half Fiji scored two more tries, but the United States got the last word when Tyler Sousley took the ball from the back of a ruck on the five meter line and pushed over the try line for the score. Despite the loss for Team USA, they can find solace in knowing that their toughest pool match is now likely behind them.

In the other pool matches, Argentina looked well groomed in a 40-12 defeat of Japan, while France defeated Kenya handedly by a score of 24-0.
