The USA women did just enough to win their playoff pool and gain a place in the final of the Amsterdam Women's 7s, the last stop on the IRB's Women's Challenge Cup tour.
After pool play, where the USA went 3-0, teams were re-seeded into two playoff pools of three teams. The Eagles edged Australia 15-14 in a tense game, and then came back from a 12-0 deficit with tries from Kaelene Lundstrum and Vanesha McGee. Bui Baravilala's conversion secured a tie for the Eagles.
Australia beat Spain, leaving the USA on top with a 1-0-1 record.
In the other pool, Canada won, also with a victory and a tie, as they drew with England and defeated the Netherlands. The Dutch then upset England.
So it's the USA v. Canada in the final.
