The USA Women's 7s team is into the Cup Quarterfinals of the Amsterdam 7s after going 2-1 in Pool Play on Friday in the final tournament of the Women's World Series.

The Eagles started off with difficulty, getting thrashed by New Zealand 43-7. But after that they picked it up and unleashed some powerful offense, shutting out Spain and Ireland.

Against Spain, Hannah Lopez and Victoria Folayan both scored two tries, while Lauren Doyle, Kelly Griffin, and Lorrie Clifford added tries for a 39-0 shutout.

The Americans then finished the day with another shutout, 29-0 over Ireland. Jillion Potter and Lopez again scored two tries. With four tries for the tournament so far, Lopez is 2nd among all players in Amsterdam.

The USA will face Canada in the quarterfinals. Ranked 7th in the World Series, the USA has an outside chance at catching Spain for 6th, as the Spanish are in the Bowl bracket.

However, to accomplish that they would have to beat Canada and then win one more game, at a minimum.
