The San Francisco Golden Gate club hosted the California State Cup and All-Star Tournament this past weekend as Sheeran Field on Treasure Island.

The top girls and boys teams from Northern and Southern California clashed in their respective all-state competitions, and all-star teams from Bay Area, Sacramento Valley, Utah and Hawaii also played.

In the Girls California State Cup, national champions Fallbrook shut out the Amazons 41-0.

In the Boys multi-school title match, Granite Bay defeated Santa Monica 20-12.

Santa Monica played a superb game and shocked Granite Bay early. However Granite Bay weathered the storm and scored the first points when Bridgon York chased down a Michael Schmitt kick to touch down in the corner. Bryce Mantel capped off a quick-tap move to make it 10-0, and then Cannon Marin’s penalty goal put Granite Bay up 13-0.

Tyler Peters was set up by Kyle Rogers to make it 20-0 at halftime.

Santa Monica redoubled their efforts in the second half, and scored twice, but the Bay defense, led by Michael Delaney, Taft Partridge, David Monje and Trevor Fischer, held on.

Granite Bay also won the JV title, beating Santa Monica 41-17. Granite Bay’s varsity and JV are a combined 27-1-1 this season.

Jesuit had all they could handle against Hawaiian Gardens. The Southern California team kept Jesuit close and late in the game the score was 19-17. But two late tries from Jesuit, the NIT champions, put the game away 33-17.

In the all-star competition, Bay Area beat Utah 32-12, while Sacramento Valley beat Hawaii 55-10.

In the Middle School all-star game, Sacramento Valley beat Bay Area 31-24.
