Cathedral Royal Irish have qualified for their third-straight Boys HS Club NIT final with a tough 12-7 victory over Danville Friday.

In a game where both teams squandered excellent scoring opportunities despite the rain in Elkhart, Ind., Cathedral at least got points from multiple trips inside the 22 - scoring four penalty goals.

The teams were deadlocked at 0-0 for much of the first half. Danville was over the line more than once, but held up or knocked on. After losing a chance for a try, the Northern California team found themselves defending their line for a long period. Cathedral looked to be in under the posts but the last pass went to ground, with the offending player's expletive of frustration echoing through the grounds.

Moments later Cathedral got a penalty and took a 3-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Danville finally did get over the line, but Cathedral added three more penalties to win 12-7.

Cathedral will face the winner of San Diego and Santa Monica in the final.
