The second week of the first round in the southern hemisphere rugby championship witnessed Argentina beating South Africa 26-24 at home in Salta, and New Zealand’s continuing dominance over Australia 29-9. The Wallabies have now lost six straight games (three to the All Blacks and three to England), the last win coming in the semifinal game of last year’s Rugby World Cup.

For Los Pumas, it was a bit of déjà vu as, again, they were up at the half 13-3 similar to last week’s lead over the Springboks that did not hold. This time, though, an Iglesias penalty with two-minutes to time secured a narrow win.

New Zealand’s second in a row win against their Aussie neighbors brought home the 14th consecutive Bledisloe Cup, another milestone in the Kiwi’s annual ascendency over its geographic closest rival. The score was 29-9 (15-9) a marginal Australian improvement over last Saturday’s 42-8 trouncing. These teams will meet again in the third Bledisloe contest on October 22nd in Auckland.
