This Saturday, September 27, will mark the first of two contests between Russia and Uruguay for the last spot in the 2015 Rugby World Cup. The game will be played in Central Stadium, Krasnoyarsk, the third largest city in Siberia.
These national squads have faced one another five previous times, with Los Teros holding a three to two lead over the Bears. Results follow:
2008 – Uruguay 33 - Russia 19
2009 – Russia 29 - Uruguay 26
2010 – Russia 38 – Uruguay 19
2012 – Uruguay 19 – Russia 13
2014 – Uruguay 13 – Russia 6
The city of Krasnoyarsk with a population over one million has been the center of rugby in Russia. It sports two teams in the professional Rugby League. At one time, the Russian Rugby Union was headquartered here.
The two XVs will meet again October 11 in Uruguay to determine who advance into Pool A.
