Not a lot of victories for USA players overseas this weekend.

In Italy, two USA No. 8s went at it (see picture) as Lou Stanfill’s Mogliano defeated Nic Johnson’s L’Aquila 30-16. Mogliano is 7th and L’Aquila 9th in the 10-team league. L’Aquila is not in danger of dropping to 10th, while Mogliano kepts pace with Roma and inched closer to Parma in the hopes of getting to the top five.

In England, Chris Wyles started at outside center as Saracens beat Gloucester 35-12 and secured home field advantage  in the Premiership semifinals. Hayden Smith did not play for Saracens in that game.

Also in the Premiership, Mike MacDonald was a sub at prop for Leeds as they went down 38-3 against Harlequins.  Leeds now is in great danger of being relegated. They have one game left, and are tied at 22 points with Newcastle. The Falcons have two games left. Leeds plays Northampton in two weeks. Newcastle faces Bath in a week and again a week after that.

Meanwhile in France, Biarritz (Takudzwa Ngwenya), Agen ( Kevin Swiryn) and Montpellier (Seta Tuilevuka) all lost.
