The opening round of the Rugby Championship among the four southern hemisphere nations witnessed the Springboks and the All Blacks achieving wins versus Australia and Argentina.

In Johannesburg, South Africa scored five tries to beat a Wallaby fifteen 35-17. Australia have not won at the Ellis Park grounds in 56-years, and Saturday proved no different. The home side led 14-10 at the break and increased the margin to 28-15 in the second half.

Highlights, including a nifty opening try by the Springboks, can be viewed at:

New Zealand surged to a 20-9 halftime score and seemed destined to add more points in the second period. Los Pumas shut out the visitors but could only add seven-points, losing 20-16. It marked the 29th consecutive loss to the All Blacks. Los Pumas have never beaten New Zealand.

This Saturday July 27, New Zealand welcome South Africa, while Australia host Argentina in the second round of the 2019 championship.
