The High School All Americans play their first game of their Argentina tour on Thursday against the Cordoba Academy.

For the players this will be the first big shot at their peers from a Tier I country.

That is the attraction for United HS star Zach Webber.

“Playing in a Tier I country will be a challenge,” Webber told “When we played Chile and Uruguay we made a few mistakes but we were able to fix it. When we played Argentina [U18s] we realized we had to be 100% or they were going to score.”

With more time to focus on that and raise the expectations, Webber said, he feels the squad can do better than the 52-3 loss to Argentina U18s the HS All Americans suffered last summer.

“The team is very different from last year,” said Webber. “There’s only a handful of guys who were on the team last year. But we’ve got a really good core of players, and we all know that to be on this team you had to have done work.  We know of players who were taken off the squad because they hadn’t been doing the fitness work, and I think in the end that means everyone who is here has worked really, really hard to get here.”
