Petri injured his left thumb in the last
minutes of his team's match with BYU last week in Provo, Utah.
"I thought it was just jammed, but it was still swollen several days later," Petri told RUGBYMag.com. He went to the doctor, and the thumb was diagnosed as being broken. He was at the NYAC v. West Point game on the sidelines, while Justin Hundley stepped in at scrumhalf.
This is a blow to NYAC and to the USA team, although Petri is expected to be back in time for the international season. He should be out eight weeks.
