As expected, Atlanta Old White will travel to Charlotte to play for the Carolinas/Georgia conference championship.
Old White is looking to avenge and early season loss and regain its place atop the conference.
In the semifinals, Charlotte defeated a pesky Charleston side. Up 17-9 at halftime, Charlotte erupted for five-second half tries and a 40-8 victory.
The other semifinal saw Old White easily dispatch Greenville 32-3 in Atlanta.
The two sides met in Atlanta back in the fall. Despite an injury to Charlotte’s flyhalf, the orange and green mustered a 62-12 victory over the Old White.
"We had some really good passages of play when we played them the first time so we look to build on what worked well that game as well as what has worked well for us so far this season," captain Jason Hinchman told Rugbymag.
Although the squad is brimming with confidence and playing on its home turf, Charlotte is expecting a tough contest. The teams are familiar with their opponents’ tendencies and style of play making for an interesting rematch.
"I expect the game to be much like the last time in the pure physicality will be evident and probably turned up a notch as seeding for the NCR2 finals is on the line."
Both teams will advance to Nationals but are still fighting for an easier path. Atlanta Old White is used to being on top of the division and will surely be out for revenge this weekend.
