The past weekend featured a bevy of marquee matchups, providing Rugby Today with new information, confusion and intrigue. Several teams played multiple games in three days making it tougher to gauge the results.

BYU crushed St. Mary’s 62-15, cementing the Cougars in the top spot. The Gaels, however, played Utah two days earlier and won narrowly 57-50. The loss to BYU and the close result with Utah pushes St. Mary’s down one spot to number four.

Life jumps over St. Mary’s after getting another impressive win. The Running Eagles defeated Arkansas State 32-15 to win the Huckaby Cup. With a good win against a quality Red Wolves side and undefeated record, Life moves up one spot.

Utah is a much tougher team to rank. The Utes played St. Mary’s tough in a loss on Thursday but also lost to UCLA over the weekend. Coming off a CRC qualifier victory in 7s the weekend prior, Utah may have just been out of gas by the end of the week. Despite losing twice, we only move the Utes down three spots to number 12.

Davenport moved up several spots despite losing to Lindenwood. The Panthers have been on the wrong side of several lopsided score lines this season, but the result against a strong Lions team is more indicative of what we have seen from them in recent years. Davenport blew a lead late and narrowly lost 16-12. With the close loss to a top six team, Davenport moves up.
