Rugby Championship - Third Match: Two games return to the southern hemisphere Rugby Championship when New Zealand (2-0) host Argentina (1-1) in Trafalgar Park, Nelson, and Australia (0-2) welcome South Africa (1-1) in Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. The Wallabies have lost four Test matches in a row, two to Ireland, and two to the All Blacks. Argentina will be pumped after their upset victory against the Springboks in Buenos Aires.
U20 Trophy Final Games: It will be an all Pacific Island final when Samoa (3-0) and Fiji (3-0) clash this Sunday in Bucharest, Romania, to determine the winner of the 2018 U20 Trophy event. This is Samoa's third appearance in the tournament where it has never lost a previous match. The winner advances next year into the 12-team U20 Championship. Namibia (2-1) will face Portugal (2-1) for third place. Uruguay (1-2) and Hong Kong (1-2) meet for fifth. Finally, the seventh and eight place match features Canada (0-3) and Romania (0-3).
New Zealand Rugby League Cancel Denver Venue: The Kiwis decided not to return to Denver in the next two-years to stage more rugby league exhibitions. Instead, they will host Tonga. New Zealand and England played to a crowd of 19,000 this year in Denver's Mile High Stadium. The Rugby League World Cup in 2025 will be in Canada and the USA for the first time.
ESPN To Present PRO 14: The network announced it will present the professional PRO 14 league, airing games until 2021. It will show all 152 matches. With Americans Blaine Scully and Samu Manoa competing for the Cardiff Blues. ESPN anticipates increased interest in the PRO 14 League (Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Italy, and two South Africa teams.)
Sevens Returns to Summer Youth Olympic Games: Rugby sevens will be played at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) scheduled for October 13, 15, and 15 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Rugby made its debut at the past YOG event in Nanjing, China, four years ago when Australian women prevailed as did French men. Each set up will attract six nations as follows:
Women: Canada, Colombia, France, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, and Tunisia
Men: Argentina, France, Japan, Samoa, South Africa, and USA
