A moment of silence was held before the Cal v UBC match Saturday at Witter Rugby Field in honor of the three Oakland rugby players and a fourth family member who died in a car accident while the teenagers were driving home from the USA 7s Las Vegas Invitational this past weekend.

David "Momo" Moa, Soasi "George" Moa, Rachel Fisi'iahi and Malia Moa all died in the crash. A fifth passenger, Hunter Halatoa, was injured and is recovering in a local hospital.

The families are now faced with burial costs, and the rugby community in the Bay Area is trying to raise money to help them.

One effort occurred at the Cal v UBC game, as fans were told about the tragedy and how to help.

A memorial service is expected to be held on weekend of 2/23/13.
