USA Rugby CEO Nigel Melville is in England for talks with the Aviva Premiership about holding a game or two in the USA.

Premiership Rugby CEO Mike McCafferty will be meeting with Melville to discuss a game event - one not unlike the NFL playing in London or Mexico City.

"We are looking to extend our ties with American rugby and open up the US market commercially," McCafferty told the Rugby Paper. "We have had a lot of approaches and a lot of discussions from people who want us to play Premiership matches out there.

The idea would be to use this event as a way to get ex-pat rugby fans to a game, but it could also serve to raise the profile of rugby in the USA. Melville is reportedly considering a number of East Coast cities for the game, but is apparently insisting that the game be a league fixture, not an exhibition.
