Mystic River and The Boston Irish Wolfhounds battled on Saturday for the first chance to engrave their names on the Briar Cup. The Briar Cup will be awarded to the winner of this cross-town rival match each year and displayed in the victor’s home pub in Boston.
The Wolfhounds used their dominant size and power to maul through the Mystics forwards for two early tries and a 12-0 lead. However, the Mystics backs had yet to be heard from. When they finally got their hands on the ball, it was lights out for the Hounds as the Mystic backs blazed their way to 33 unanswered points. 3 tries were scored by Mystics Man of the Match, Chris Tofte along with a try each for Evin O’Driscoll, Adnon Kawuma, and Nate Fox.
