Eleven teams remain in the men's DI club playoffs after Schuylkill River upset Norfolk 17-15 on Saturday and PAC 22-14 on Sunday to win the Mid-Atlantic Conference despite being seeded #4.
Schuylkill River will face off against Metropolis, which put to be any and all doubts about their being Midwest champions with a ten-try, 58-3 defeat of the Milwaukee Barbarians.
In the other Eastern bracket, NYAC, the Northeast champs, will take on the winner of Old Blue v Life University, a play-in game set for May 3 in New York City.
In the West, the Sacramento Lions, who beat Fresno 60-10, and Santa Rosa, who beat the East Palo Alto Razorbacks 39-38, will face off next weekend in the Northern California championship. The two teams have played twice already, with Sacramento winning by four on both occasions.
The winner of that game will play New Orleans in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Dallas is slated to play Provo in a play-in, with the winner to face Los Angeles, which beat the San Diego Old Aztecs 31-24 Saturday in the Southern California final.
So that's who is left: NYAC, Old Blue, Life, Schuylkill River, Metropolis, New Orleans, Dallas, Provo, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Santa Rosa.
Meanwhile, the top-ranked DI club in the country, Seattle-Old Puget Sound Beach, has finished 1st in the Okanagan Spring Brewery DI league in British Columbia, and is set for the playoffs, hoping to earn promotion to the BC Premiership for 2014-15.
