Busy or not busy, which is better?

The second league game of the South DI club season takes place this weekend, with Life University traveling to the Big Easy to take on New Orleans.

For Life, this is almost an easy time. Last weekend, consider that the Life program fielded two undergraduate 7s teams in a tournament in Marietta (both teams swept all their games), played a men’s league game in Atlanta (won over the Renegades 86-0) and had six of their best players – two undergrads and four grads – with the USA Selects team at the ARC in Canada.

Those ARC players are still absent, but it’s a slightly slower weekend nonetheless for Life, which needs this game despite being without four key starters.

Meanwhile, New Orleans has been in the opposite situation. They have wanted to schedule some warmup games and have had all sorts of trouble getting games that aren’t financially crippling for one team or other, or getting opponents that can drum up the right number of players.

“The guys have been working hard at training,” said Head Coach Jerry Malina. “[But] scheduling quality opponents for friendlies has been problematic. The guys will need to really step up their game for a top-notch side like Life.”
