The women’s DI club competition really gets underway this weekend.
Two games have already been played in CR2, with Detroit beating Chicago and Austin holding off Black Ice. But four games are on the slate this weekend, all in the other two regions. Philadelphia travels to NOVA in CR3, and Providence goes to Boston. Boston is led by, among others, Northeast 7s all star Danielle Miano, while Northeast 15sall-star Tiffany McCoy leads Providence.
Philly Head Coach Bob Weir will be relying on his experienced front row, including all-stars Katy Black and Emily Tunney as they take on a high-flying NOVA team with CJ Hildreth, Lauren Hoeck, and Erica Cavanaugh.
All teams are 0-0.
In CR1, it’s all about the local rivalries, as the Emerald City Mudhens take on Seattle, and the NorCal Triple Threat play the San Francisco Fog.
The Mudhens are led by Eagle back Ashley Kmiecik, still one of the smartest deep three players in the game, while Seattle Head Coach Evan Haigh has new all-star Parisa Asgharzadeh on his squad.
Eagle front-rower Lisa Butts is the driving force behind the Triple Threat, which also features former USA U19 captain Haley French. The Fog, despite being a classic West Coast team, seems to be heavily populated with East Coast college products, especially the Ivy League.
