The Southern California DI league begins this weekend, with six teams in
action each week.
The schedule looks for each team to play ten league matches, and they are tough matches, with two of the teams involved having won Super League titles, and three (including Belmont Shore doubling up) having won DI national titles.
Belmont Shore, the defending national DI winners, take on Santa Monica in the opening weekend, while Los Angeles hosts OMBAC, and Las Vegas visits Back Bay.
As usual this will be a very tough and closely-contested league. However, while RUGBYMag.com has been vocal in touting how this might be the best DI league in the country, it’s worth pointing out that in 2012 winners Belmont Shore were rarely tested. Yes they beat Las Vegas 12-9 in Nevada, and had to push to beat OMBAC by 6, but their remaining eight winning margins were by an average of 43.
This remains a tough league, but one where the best team, in 2012 at least,
was way better than everyone else.
